My tomato plants are mocking me.
I’ve had a crazy-busy last couple of days, and we actually got some rain yesterday, so it’s been a few days since I went out to give them any TLC. Today I walk out with the watering can, and what did my eyes see?? A beautiful orange-red tomato!!
Wait. It’s a lacrosse ball. And there’s a broken branch.
Maybe next week.
May the force be with you. Mine didn’t have actual tomatoes on the vine until October.
Here they start in April, and usually finish in June or July. Or in my case, lacrosse season.
Hopefully the broken branch was a sucker, not a producer. We have lots of little green tomatoes on our hanging basket.
I’m hoping for the first of my first crop in the next few days!! I’ll be posting pics to show off. These are my first ones I’ve ever got to bear fruit!
Thanks for the comment on my blog posting about the wild Iris. Loved this posting of yours—I thought, “wow, her tomatoes have come in earlier than ours!”
One of the best things about South Louisiana is our tomato crop! Our long, humid days are perfect. The really good farmers/planters already have a crop coming in. I’m a novice, but I’m tracking!
